Sorry Bhai

Sorry Bhai is about the complexities of relationships seen and felt in real life. That subtle tug or snap in relationships when people are drawn towards or pulled away from each other. These very moments captured with a telling effect provide the soul to ‘Sorry Bhai’ even though the film gets a little too tangled in the second half.

At the centre of the movie is a slowly developing love story between a woman and the younger brother of the man she is about to marry. Sanjay Suri as Harsh is set to marry Aaliya (Chitrangada Singh). His family comprising of a young, shy scientist brother Siddharth ( Sharman Joshi ), a disapproving mom ( Shabana Azmi ) and a chilled-out dad ( Boman Irani ) come to Mauritius to attend the wedding. While Harsh doesn’t seem to have much time for his family, Siddharth and Aaliya develop a bond that turns into mutual attraction. The duo fights this attraction.

More than just a romantic story, ‘Sorry Bhai’ taps on the bonding between two brothers, and between the two women in the story. Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani who charm you completely with their crackling chemistry and their natural act as urbane parents.

In a movie like ‘Sorry Bhai’, it’s more appropriate to judge the actors’ job from viewpoint of the chemistry between them rather than individual performances. Sanjay Suri is relegated to the background for a substantial part, but he too gets his moments. Boman Irani is superb in a relatively smaller but homour-filled role.

The film, with its above average music and eye-pleasing cinematography, has a somewhat boring ending preceded by a couple of sequences where you feel the director either lost his grip over the plot or became too self-indulgent.

But at the end of the day, ‘Sorry Bhai’ gives you a faint smile and doesn’t make you feel sorry for the money and time spent on the flick.

Sorry Bhai!!

After working together on films like My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, the duo, Film-maker Onir and Sanjay suri, has launched new movie Sorry Bhai. Sorry Bhai is a comedy-romance movie. It is a love triangle but with a twist that has never before been seen in Hindi cinema. It is about falling in love with brother's fiancée. The starcast of movie is quite sweet that includes Sanjay Suri as Harshvardhan (Harsh), Sharman Joshi as Siddharth Mathur (sidd), Chitrangada Singh as Aaliyah, Boman Irani as Navin mathur and Shabana Azmi as Gayatri Mathur.

In Sorry Bhai, Navin, Gayatri, Harsh and sidd are members of a family. Sidd is perfact specimen of studious scientist. All the qualities, he has, makes him a boring person. But he has some interesting things too which makes difference for him. He's a big jazz freak and a saxophone player. Harsh is a simpler and uncomplicated brother of sidd. Ambitious and determined to become a success, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Going to Mauritius on a scholarship makes him ever more ambitious and motivates to succeed. Navin Mathur, father of harsh and sidd, was a teacher by profession who loved his job and managed to stay clear of becoming excessively cynical. He liked people and was popular wherever he went. He is very cautious man towards his life. Last but not the least, Gayatri, mother of harsh and siddtharth, has become fairly comfortable in her equation with his husband. They usually chat like friends, drink beer together and play Scrabble. Navin avoids confrontations with Gayatri and she even enjoys his leg-pulling.

Apart from sweet family, there is another person in Sorry bhai who is Aaliyah. Aaliyah is a daughter of divorced-parents. She has grown up in Mauritius, in a Boarding school. Her parents are both married and with their kids now. She gets financially support from her divorced-parents. They even speak to her occasionally. Harsh came in her life like a blessing for her, someone she could finally call her own, someone who loved her and let her love him.

Now, Both Harsh and Aaliyah decides to marry. Therefore, attending their wedding, sidd travels to Mauritius along with his father and mother. Since Gayatri is angry at Harsh for deciding to get married without consulting them. On the other hand, Harsh, pre-occupied with work, can spend little time with his family and it is left to his fiancee Aaliyah to show them around Mauritius before the wedding. However, Ma's anger at Harsh ensures that she takes an instant dislike for Aaliyah, and it is Aaliyah and Siddharth who end up spending loads of time together. This, added to the fact that Aaliyah feels neglected by the career-obsessed Harsh, leads to them being irresistibly drawn to each other. A horrified Siddharth battles this attraction desperately, but Aaliyah has fallen madly in love and pursues him with single-minded determination. When Siddharth’s defences start crumbling and Ma starts getting suspicious, all hell breaks loose in the Mathur family…
